- Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA)
In 2003, the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) was enacted to prevent, detect, and respond to offender sexual abuse and sexual harassment. The Bucks County Department of Corrections created a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of sexual victimization to ensure the safety of all offenders. All allegations of abuse will be referred for investigation until an outcome is determined.
If you have knowledge of, or a suspicion of sexual abuse occurring, report it immediately. Reports will be accepted by anyone, including those that wish to remain anonymous.
Reports can be filed by calling the Bucks County Department of Corrections PREA Hotline or contacting the PREA Reporting Contact email.
A copy of the current PREA policy can be requested by sending an email with the following information:
In 2016, the Department of Corrections began to collect and review data in order to assess and improve the effectiveness of its polices, practices, and training. To review data reports, visit the PREA Reports Archive.
