The Departmental program protects residents of Bucks County from disease and is a cooperative program between the Bureau of Personal Health and the Bureau of Environmental Health. An epidemiological team (Epi-Team), comprised of epidemiologists, Environmental Protection Specialists (EPS) and public health nurses, investigate incidents of reported foodborne and waterborne disease as well as diseases of unknown causes and situations requiring an immediate response.
The Bureau of Environmental Health members of the Epi-Team, conduct inspections, collect field data, conduct educational meetings, and lend technical expertise. Each district office has an Epi-Team ready to respond to reported food or waterborne disease occurrences. The Division of Environmental Health provides knowledge of current concepts and developments necessary for the prevention and investigation of food or waterborne disease occurrences.
