Victim Services

The Juvenile Justice System operates under the philosophy of Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ), with the victim playing an important part. The triangle approach of BARJ views the juvenile offender, the victim, and the community as clients of the Juvenile Justice System, with all receiving balanced attention.

Those that have been the victim of a crime are eligible for the following:

  1. Right to stay informed of all court cases, outcomes, related to the juvenile offender
  2. Right to provide a victim impact statement that will be shared with the courts during the disposition hearing
  3. Right to seek compensation for any losses, property damage, and medical bills via restitution.
