Code Blue will be called whenever the temperature goes below 20 degrees, but may also be called with higher temperatures based on consideration of wind chill, precipitation, or other circumstances. A Code Blue may be called for a single night’s duration in the event of extreme cold or other situation creating a public health risk.
The Code Blue Shelters listed below open when temperatures hit 26o or below, including wind chills; opening is dependent on having enough volunteers. Doors open at 9:00 pm and stay open through the night only.
Please go to www.AHTN.org for information on shelter locations, Code Blue Declarations, and volunteering. Transportation to Code Blue Shelters is available, and more information can be found on the AHTN website.
