This is a 2 day course (9/7/2023 - 9/8/2023)

This course provides participants with the opportunity to apply basic concepts underlying the Public Information Officer (PIO) role. The course provides a basic understanding of the PIO Function and those new to the position. 

The following course may satisfy the following certification requirements:

  • PEMA: D2017-02:
    • County Advanced/Professional Certification (in place of G-289)
    • Local EMC/Staff Advanced/Professional Certification (in place of G-289)
  • PEMA: D2022-02:
    • County Professional Certification
    • Local EMC/Staff Professional Certification
    • Practitioner Professional Certification
  • Con-Eds:
    • EMS: 14 "other" hours
    • PEMA: 14 hours for oneof the following mission areas:
      • Prevention
      • Protection
      • Response
      • Recovery 
      • Mitigation
