It’s always a great day when we can announce some new additions and promotions at the District Attorney’s Office.
This morning, our two newest Assistant District Attorneys were sworn into office, and two county detectives who were promoted to Lieutenant during a ceremony before President Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr.
Our new prosecutors Abigail Cocco and Rebekah Van Der Werf began working at the District Attorney’s Office this month. Both are recent Temple Law School graduates. Cocco is a Gettysburg College alum, where she earned an undergraduate degree in History and Van Der Werf attended Liberty University, where she received her undergraduate degree in Criminal Psychology.
Detectives Frank Groome and Steve Ortman were promoted to Lieutenant. Both have 40 years of law enforcement experience.
Groome began his career in 1982 with the Bristol Borough Police Department, before moving to the Upper Southampton Police Department where he served as a detective and Lieutenant. He joined the Bucks County Detectives in 2015.
Ortman also began his career in 1982 in New Jersey, first with the Wildwood Police Department, followed by the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office. In 1990, his career took him to the Drug Enforcement Administration before joining Bucks County Detectives in 2017.
