A suspected electrical fire on Tuesday damaged the clubhouse at the County-owned Oxford Valley Golf Course in Falls Township.
Employees inside the clubhouse called 911 after they smelled and saw smoke outside the building.
Fire crews were dispatched to the call at 3:41 p.m., arrived on scene at 3:47 p.m. and reported the fire as under control at 3:51 p.m. No injuries were reported.
The Bucks County Fire Marshal’s Office believe the fire was the result of an electrical malfunction, as it appears to have started where wires for telephone and cable service enter the building.
The fire primarily damaged the roof and exterior of the clubhouse and caused smoke damage throughout the building. General Services will assess and address the needed repairs.
Oxford Valley Golf Course is part of the Parks and Recreation Department and is operated by Spirit Golf Management.
While the course itself was not impacted by the fire, it will remain closed at least until a temporary office is in place. Updates about course operations will be posted to Bucks County Parks and Recreation’s social media pages, including on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The Bucks County Commissioners and the Parks and Recreation Department thank the Fairless Hills Fire Department, Falls Township Fire Department, Edgely Fired Department, Levittown Fire Department #1, Levittown Fire Department #2, William Penn Fire Department, Tullytown Fire Department, Penndel Fire Department, the Falls Township Fire Marsal, the Bucks County Fire Marshal, Levittown Fairless Hills Rescue Squad and Bucks County’s 911 staff for their swift and professional response to this incident.
